Changing the Culture

Changing the Culture • June 27, 2013 • David C. Levin, MD, FACR • Online

There are many threats facing the specialty of radiology. We will discuss these briefly. To surmount the threats and ensure a favorable future, radiologists must take a number of steps that will enable them to truly provide value-based imaging care. This part of the discussion will take up most of the session. These steps amount to nothing less than a culture change. Participants will undoubtedly find some of them to be controversial, and they may disagree with them. But leadership requires the willingness to listen to new and perhaps unconventional ideas.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the threats facing radiology
  2. Identify the steps individual practice groups should consider taking to change their culture and ensure a healthy future
  3. Reflect on some changes organized radiology should make to ensure a healthy future for the specialty
