Although the relationship between hospitals and radiologist groups is often one of contention or competition, there are ample opportunities for cooperation. The increasing relevance of timely, sophisticated and integrated imaging over the past two decades in most facets of clinical operations in acute-care hospitals creates opportunities for both parties to capitalize on aligned incentives. This session will discuss trends in contracting based on current expectations hospitals have of radiology groups, emphasizing ways in which radiologists can direct their efforts in ways that optimize clinical service.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe key components of a hospital contract that potentially place a radiology group at risk.
  2. Identify areas of mutual benefit where radiologists can and should expect to contribute to the success of a hospital imaging department.
  3. Design metrics that emphasize the value radiologists add to a progressive high-performing imaging department.
